OFFICIAL ELECTION NOTICE – UOCAVA VOTES
This is an official notice of an election to be conducted in Campbell County on March 1, 2016.
Military and Overseas Voters
If you are an absent military or overseas citizen eligible to vote in state and local elections, you may register to vote and request a regular absentee ballot for upcoming elections by using the federal postcard application (FPCA), available on the Federal Voting Assistance Program website. You can electronically apply for ballots by submitting your FPCA by fax to 434-332-9689 or scanned email attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. Detailed instructions are provided in the Virginia Voting Assistance Guide. If you have a Virginia DMV issued driver license or identification card, you can also register to vote or renew your voter registration online using the Virginia Department of Elections voter registration portal. Please note if you use the portal you must also submit separately a new FPCA to receive ballots for future elections through the end of the next calendar year; you can also submit a Virginia absentee ballot application for a specific election once scheduled.
If you do not receive your state ballot in time, you may vote using a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB), available on the Federal Voting Assistance Program website. This notice enables you to identify all of the federal, state, local offices and, if applicable, ballot measures this city/county expects, as of this date, to be on the ballot. Virginia law requires an Election Notice for UOCAVA voters not later than 100 days before a regularly scheduled election that permits absentee voting, and as soon as practicable in the case of a Special Election held at a time other than a regularly scheduled Special Election. As soon as ballot styles are approved, the Virginia Department of Elections will update its website with the certified candidates for each office and ballot measures that will be on the ballot. For most elections, ballots will be sent at least 46 days before the election to voters that have requested them; ballots for special scheduled after the deadline not involving a federal office will be sent as soon as possible. You may request an updated Election Notice be sent to you.
Marking a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot
When marking a FWAB, for each office for which you wish to vote, write in either a candidate's name or political party designation. For ballot measures or referenda, write either "YES" (you are for the ballot measure or referendum) or "NO" (you are against the ballot measure or referendum). If you indicated you wish to participate in a party primary, you may only vote for the candidates of the party you indicated. Please contact your local election official to confirm your absentee or voter registration status. The Democratic and Republican Parties have called for Presidential primaries to be held on
Tuesday, March 1, 2016
Democratic and Republican Presidential Primaries will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. In order to be eligible to vote on this date, you must register no later than Monday, February 8, 2016. You may register at any DMV or other miscellaneous agencies in the Commonwealth, or at our office, which is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
***If you will be 18 years old on or before Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, you may be eligible to vote in the March 1, 2016 Presidential Primary.
For the convenience of registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot, our office will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 (final day for in-person voting).
You are encouraged to make application for voter registration. Please call us to request a registration application, an application for absentee voting, or to verify that you are registered.

Office of the General Registrar
The Office of the General Registrar is located in the Historic Clerk's Office, 41 Courthouse Lane in Rustburg, Virginia, 24588. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and certain Saturdays prior to each election.
The General Registrar's office is a permanent location for voter registration, in-person absentee voting, obtaining information on candidates and referenda and other voting related information. The Registrar is responsible for all candidate filings and the maintenance of these records; providing all precincts with accurate facilities to vote and training of election officials to work the polls; recording and reporting the results of elections.
Voter registration is available to any Virginia resident who will be eighteen years of age or older by the next General election. Registration can be accomplished at the office of the General Registrar, in person, or by any of the following methods: calling for an application which can be sent and returned by mail; at DMV when obtaining or renewing a driver's license; or at any state or federal agency.
If moving within the County or to another county or city within the Commonwealth, the same procedure may be followed. The final day of registration is 21 days prior to any election.
Properly registered voters may vote by absentee ballot if they will be out of the County on Election Day or if they are unable to go to the polls due to physical illness or disability. An absentee precinct, or location where absentee ballots are counted, is located within the office of the General Registrar (Historic Clerk's Office).

The Constitution of Virginia requires that you be registered in the precinct in which you live in order to be qualified to vote. You may register at any DMV or miscellaneous agencies in the Commonwealth, or at our office, which is open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. You may also vote absentee in-person at our office ONLY. All requests for reasonable accommodations due to a disability should be made to the Office of the Registrar. You are encouraged to make application for voter registration.
