The Campbell County Public Library System is once again celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month with a special challenge. Starting on September 1, readers of all ages will be able to sign up for the LCSUM Beanstack challenge for their age group (kids/teens and adults). They can complete badges to earn tickets and enter for some great prizes.
The purpose of LCSUM is to encourage users to visit their libraries and sign up for a new library card or renew their existing one. Even if you already have an active card, stop by the library to vote for your favorite designs in our bookmark contest, starting September 9. We also may have other special treats in store...you'll have to visit to find out more!
LCSUM is an initiative from the American Library Association. See below for their press release:
Whether you’re upgrading your skills, scouting for knowledge and information, or connecting with other heroic readers, a library card is your key to an arsenal of resources. Spark your creativity as a builder or programmer by tinkering in your library’s makerspace; mine the library’s stacks and databases for new stories and adventures; kickstart your critical thinking skills to defeat the Decepticons of misinformation lurking online. Hitting the road? Use your library card to fuel your mind with books, e-books, audiobooks, and more.
ALA is teaming up with multiplatform entertainment company Skybound Entertainment and leading toy and game company Hasbro to encourage people to roll out to their libraries with the TRANSFORMERS franchise, featuring Optimus Prime, as part of Library Card Sign-Up Month in September.
